Meet Gold, our new protagonist, who gets pulled into his Pokemon Journey through Johto when a mysterious figure, Silver, steals a Todadile from Professor Elm. As he tails Silver though, he starts to see there may be more than meets the eye. Also, Team Rocket seperated him from his Poliwag so he has to travel to find her again. Oddly enough, this particular volume seemed to stick more to the game and anime logic than the original, though it seems to have kept the mildly dark realism which is a signature of the manga.Īnd we're into the second gen! Silver is still mysterious, but that’s one reason I’m excited to start the next volume. I found myself laughing more than once at his little mishaps. Gold is kind of annoying at times, but charming enough so that he makes up for his mistakes. Though I did play the HG/SS version of the game, so I do know enough to catch the little inside jokes, and maybe that’s why I found this even more exciting than the Gen 1 manga.
